Background for John Madison, CPA, MSPFP, CRPC, AWMA, MPAS:

• I am a Virginia-licensed CPA, having passed the exam while still in college (Virginia Commonwealth University, BS in Accounting)

• Earned a Master of Science’s degree in Personal Financial Planning (MSPFP)

• Completed the CRPC-program (Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor)

• Completed the AWMA-program (Accredited Wealth Management Advisor)

• Earned the Master Planner Advanced Studies (MPAS) designation

• Published “The STEWARD Plan” in 2020 with HarperCollins Christian Publishing

• After a couple of years in public accounting, I went to work for an audit client

• Spent 11 years in private accounting, rising from Assistant Controller to the Treasurer of my last employer (1999)

• My freelance practice started on 1/1/2000 providing accounting services to business’s on a fractional basis

• The business grew rapidly and steadily from 2000 to 2015

• Moved to part-time status beginning in 2015 (when I was 49) as an analysis of our personal financial assets indicated we had accumulated enough to “retire” from full-time work

• I continue to provide accounting services for a few hours a week while also teaching and coaching about personal financial management

• Currently serve on the Board of Directors for four non-profits in the central Virginia area

• Started Dayspring Financial Ministry offering personal financial counseling consistent with Scripture as well as no-cost, live workshops on Biblical Stewardship and Tax-Efficient Tithing strategies for churches and other groups
