ABOUT JOHN MADISON
John Madison is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 35+ years of experience working with clients to help them meet their financial goals. His counseling and teaching ministries (via Dayspring Financial Ministry) are based on Biblical principles for the financial stewardship of God’s resources entrusted to us.
He doesn’t sell insurance or investment products, nor does he manage investments for his clients. He receives no commissions from any product or service that he may recommend. Instead, his ministry is singularly focused on teaching and presenting options for his client’s individual situation and goals.
He has been featured or quoted in numerous publications and websites, including Forbes, The Washington Post, U.S. News and World Report, Investopedia, the Chicago Tribune, the New York Post, Bankrate.com, CNBC, GoBankingRates.com, Nasdaq.com, and Yahoo Finance, to name a few. In 2020, John’s book, The Steward Plan, was published by HarperCollins Christian Publishing.
In addition to providing financial counseling, John is also the owner and president of Riverpine Services, Inc. Riverpine Services provides freelance accounting services to a select number of small businesses throughout the region. During 2016, John moved to a part-time role with Riverpine to focus his attention and energy on his personal financial education ministry.
In addition to his BS in accounting, John has also earned a Master’s Degree in Personal Financial Planning (MSPFP). He has also earned the Master Planner Advanced Studies (MPAS) designation and holds the CRPC (Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor) and AWMA (Accredited Wealth Management Advisor) designations to better serve his financial coaching clients.
Background Information
Born and raised in Virginia, John Madison passed the CPA exam before graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University and beginning his career at a “Big-8” accounting firm in 1987. After two years in public accounting, he accepted employment with a client and rose through the ranks.
Desiring to work in a more diversified environment, John started his own freelance accounting company in 2000 and added financial coaching services in 2012.
John is a resident of Hanover County, Virginia, where he was born and raised. He is active in his church, enjoys finishing a good bike ride or workout, and leads personal finance classes for the community. Further, he serves on the Board of Directors for multiple charities in the Richmond, Virginia, area.
